NIce intro that explains what the song means.
John Prine - “Spanish Pipedream”
Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo
Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin’ me what to doBlow up your TV, throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try and find Jesus on your own

John Prine - Glory of True Love
John Prine—Dear Abby
from Sweet Revenge
One of the things we’ve lost with the decline of newspapers is the advice column. Sure there’s Savage Love, which is a reflection of modern times (caustic, snarky and contemptful), but reading Dear Abby and Ann Landers was always a treat to see how those old biddys would handle the trials and tribulations of middle America in the paper age - and their word was bond: no comments, reblogs or sharing. Maybe a week(!) later they’d publish a response from a reader telling Abby she was full of it to which she’d dress them down in no time flat.
Oh and movie listings for the X-rated movie theaters, we lost those too.
Far From Me - Justin Townes Earle (John Prine cover, via naternet)
