Mel Tillis - I Ain’t Never

Vastly underrated in country lore.

Mel Tillis - The Brooklyn Bridge

As promised…do you know how little of Mel’s work is in print? Damn shame.

Mel Tillis on the Porter Wagoner Show (via Gatorrock787)

an amazing songwriter and performer. In light of the movie “The King’s Speech”, it’s interesting to hear Porter talk about Mel’s speech impediment. Mel named his autobiography “Stutterin’ Boy”.

As a kid I was amazed how Mel’s stammer disappeared when he sang. I haven’t seen King’s Speech (yet), but am no less amazed by Mel in this clip. Hard to believe I don’t own any - so I’m off to look!

I was gonna post some Roy Clark, but then I came across this gem.

Johnny & June, Hag, Buck, Jerry Reed, Glen Campbell, Mel Tillis, Freddie Hart and Minnie Pearl. Totally awesome until they hit TV over production in the last 30 seconds.
